GOOD EVENING.

WELL, IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.

I THOUGHT RATHER THAN PRAYING FOR YOU.

AND INSTEAD OF YOU, I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE YOU TO PRAY THE PRAYER THAT JESUS TAUGHT US TO PRAY AS A PATTERN.

AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE PROMPTS FROM THE NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION OF MATTHEW CHAPTER FIVE.

AND I'D ASK HIM THE QUIETNESS OF YOUR OWN HEART.

YOU ECHO THOSE WORDS AND THEY'RE OUTLINED.

SO FILL IN ANY OF THE SUB POINTS SO QUIETLY IN YOUR OWN HEART.

AND I'LL GUIDE US THROUGH THE PRAYER THAT JESUS TAUGHT US.

AND THEN I HAVE A COUPLE THINGS TO ADD AT THE END, LET'S BOW OUR HEADS.

THIS THEN IS HOW YOU SHOULD PRAY.

OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME, YOUR KINGDOM, COME YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.

GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD, FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS.

AS WE ALSO HAVE FORGIVEN OUR DEBTORS LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM THE EVIL ONE LORD.

WE REMEMBER ALSO SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE FAR FROM HOME.

WE PRAY FOR THEM AND FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND ASK, THEY MIGHT BE REUNITED SOON.

WE PRAY FOR OUR POLICE AND FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONDERS THAT YOU MIGHT GRANT THEM WISDOM FOR THE SITUATIONS THEY FACE.

AND THEY TOO MIGHT ARRIVE HOME SAFELY.

TONIGHT.

WE ASK THESE THINGS IN YOUR NAME.

[ Presentation Of Newly Promoted Officers Within The Fire Division - Fire Chief Keith Knisley And Mayor Jeff Gore]

OUR NUMBER SIX SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS.

MR. ROGERS, ITEM SIX, A PRESENTATION OF NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS WITHIN THE FIRE DIVISION BY FIRE CHIEF, KEITH NICELY AND MAYOR JEFF WARREN.

OKAY.

THIS IS A, AS I WAS TELLING MARY BORE, THIS IS THE MOST EXCITING PART OF MY JOB, OR ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING PARTS OF MY JOB HAS BEEN IN MY SHORT TIME HERE, WE'VE HIRED SEVERAL PEOPLE AND WE HAVE PROMOTED SEVERAL PEOPLE AND THERE'S NOTHING MORE JOYOUS THAN TO ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW, BE PART OF A PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY AS A CHIEF RUSSELL THAT STANDING HERE HAS WORKED VERY HARD

[00:05:01]

TO GET TO THE POSITION HE'S IN.

THE FIRST TWO PROMOTIONS WE'RE GOING TO DO IS FOR BATTALION CHIEF, JOHN RUSSELL AND BATTALION CHIEF, KEN STIFLE, AND THEN BEING A BATTALION CHIEF MEANS THAT THEY'VE NOT ONLY SERVED TIME WITH US AS FIREFIGHTERS.

THEY'VE ALSO BEEN SUPERVISORS AS LIEUTENANTS FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND NOW THEY'RE GETTING A SECOND PROMOTION AS A, AS THE BATTALION CHIEF.

SO, UM, I'LL TAKE A SECOND HERE TO TELL YOU JUST A VERY LITTLE BIT ABOUT JOHN.

UH, JOHN IS A HOMETOWN GUY AND HE'S A WAYNE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE.

HE STARTED WITH US, UH, JUST OVER 20 YEARS AGO.

UH, HE CAME TO US, UH, WHERE HE STARTED FULL-TIME IN ZENYA.

UH, HE WAS PROMOTED, UH, HE WAS PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT IN 2012 AND, UH, HE WAS PROMOTED TO BATTALION CHIEF ON MARCH 5TH, UM, WITH, UH, COVID.

IT TOOK A WHILE FOR US.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE HAD ALL THE HARDWARE IN PLACE AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN PLACE, AND WE'VE DONE ALL THAT.

SO NOW WE'RE HERE FOR THE CEREMONY.

UH, JOHN'S HERE WITH HIS SHANNON AND HIS SON, GARRETT KIND OF SURPRISED HIM COMING IN FROM, UH, COMING IN FROM SCHOOL TODAY.

SO IT WAS NICE TO SEE ERIC COME IN, UH, THE PROMOTIONS THEMSELVES.

IT'S A LITTLE BIT OF A TRIVIA HERE WHEN, WHEN CHIEF ASHWORTH AND CHIEF AVON'S BATTALION CHIEF EVANS RETIRED THAT CREATED THE UPWARD MOVEMENT TO WHERE, UH, WHEN I MOVED FROM BATTALION CHIEF TO FIRE CHIEF, WE HAVE TWO BATTALION CHIEF OPENINGS.

AND THEN OBVIOUSLY TO LIEUTENANT, THIS IS GOING TO BE A BUSY YEAR, UH, BECAUSE WE ALSO HAVE YOUR PROMOTIONS LATER ON IN THE YEAR, WE HAVE A LIEUTENANT WHO IS GOING TO MAX OUT HIS RETIREMENT POTENTIAL AND WE'LL HAVE TO LEAVE IN OCTOBER.

AND THEN NEXT YEAR WE HAVE ANOTHER RETIREMENT.

SO AS A NEW FIRE CHIEF, I'VE BEEN DEALT A TREMENDOUS HAND IN HAVING PEOPLE THAT ARE VERY NEW INTO POSITIONS AND THEY'RE VERY PRIDEFUL AND THEY'RE VERY EXCITED AND EAGER TO, UH, TO MOVE THE FIRE MISSION FORWARD, UH, BETWEEN, UH, BETWEEN, UH, JOHN, UH, KEN, BRANDON AND MIKE, THAT WE'RE GOING TO PRESENT TONIGHT.

MIKE AND JOHN, UH, YOU KNOW, JOHN AND KEN REPRESENTED ABOUT 20 YEARS OF LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE ALREADY WITHIN THE CITY OF HUBER HEIGHTS.

ALL FOUR OF THEM COMBINED IS 95 YEARS OF FIREFIGHTING AND EMS EXPERIENCE THAT WE HAVE HERE IN THE CITY.

AND THAT'S JUST FOUR OF OUR FOUR OF OUR PUPILS, UM, MAYOR.

SO THIS IS, UM, KIND OF A UNIQUE SITUATION FOR MYSELF, JOHN AND I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, WHEN I THINK BACK OF US IN HIGH SCHOOL AND TO RUN AROUND THOSE HALLS ONE DAY, I'D BE THE MAYOR AND BE A BIG PRO TO A BATTALION CHIEF.

AND IT WAS JUST KIND OF LIKE, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? IT'S JUST CRAZY HOW THINGS KIND OF COME FULL CIRCLE, BUT I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, UM, JOHN, BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL, WHICH IS SUCH AN OUTSTANDING GUY, A GREAT FRIEND, UM, NEVER SAID A BAD WORD ABOUT ANYBODY.

EVERYBODY KNEW THEY COULD GO TO JOHN.

UH, YOU COULD COUNT ON JOHN, EVEN WHEN THE GUY WAS 17, 18 YEARS OLD, AND I AM THE LEAST SURPRISED PERSON IN THE CITY THAT JOHN WAS STAYING HERE TODAY.

THEY PROMOTE YOU TO A BATTALION CHIEF.

SO MAN, CONGRATULATIONS JUST PHENOMENAL JOB.

AND AS A FRIEND, MAN, I APPRECIATE IT.

CONGRATULATIONS.

THANKS SCOTT.

UM, THE BIGGEST THING I'VE HEARD TONIGHT THAT I LOVE TO HEAR IS THE WORK PROMOTIONS.

WHAT YOU'LL SEE HERE WITH ALL FOUR OF THEM AS THEY'RE COMING UP FROM THE RANKS HERE AT HUBER HEIGHTS, THAT THEY DEDICATED THEIR TIME AND THEIR EFFORTS HERE AND WANT TO CONTINUE TO STRIVE TO GET BETTER.

AND THAT IS SHOWN THROUGH, UH, ALL OF THESE, UH, UH, PROMOTIONS TONIGHT ABOUT HOW HARD THEY WORK AND HOW RESPECTED THEY ARE IN THIS COMMUNITY.

SO I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO AND CONGRATULATIONS, AND THANK YOU.

OKAY, I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD.

AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO KIND OF START OUR OWN LITTLE TRADITION HERE.

THE FAMILY OF, OF A FIREFIGHTER IS, UH, THEY, THEY SACRIFICE A LOT.

YOU KNOW, MOST OF US, OUR KIDS EITHER, YOU KNOW, THERE'S A YEAR, THEY DON'T SEE YOU ON CHRISTMAS.

THEY DON'T SEE ON THEIR BIRTHDAY.

AND THE FAMILY IS BASICALLY MAKES A, JUST, UH, ANYBODY IN PUBLIC SAFETY FROM OUR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICERS WHO WERE HERE RECOGNIZING TONIGHT AS WELL, UH, TO THE POLICE OFFICERS AND THE FIREFIGHTERS AND THE FAMILIES, A BIG PART OF THIS.

SO I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND PRESENT GARRETT WITH THE BADGE AND HE WILL GIVE IT TO HIS MOTHER.

WHO'S GOING TO NOT STAB HIM.

SHE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH US TOO.

[00:10:03]

NEXT STEP.

WE'LL HAVE A BATTALION CHIEF, STEVE HALL AND HIS WIFE, MICHELLE PROBLEM, AND PRONOUNCING IT.

I ALWAYS SAY SPEAK STIFLES.

THE, UM, KEN KEN'S BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME AS WELL.

KEN'S WAYNE GRADUATE PROUD WAYNE GRADUATE, PROBABLY DID YOU GRADUATE WITH JOHN TWO YEARS? HE WAS THE GUY GIVING YOU GRIEF ON THE STAGE.

WE'RE NOT GOING TO BUY A CAFETERIA FOOD, MUCH LESS WEAR SHORTS BUT ANYWAYS, KEN START WITH THE, WITH THE CITY, THERE'S A VOLUNTEER, UH, UH, THEY'RE UH, VOLUNTEER POSITIONS TO WHERE, UH, THEY WERE, WE WERE RUNNING THE CITY AT THE TIME, WAS RUNNING SOME CLASSES AND KEN WAS ABLE TO KIND OF GET HIS TRAINING AS A VOLUNTEER, UH, THAT WAS IN 1990.

AND THEN KEN WENT TO XENIA WAS THE FIRST PLACE TO OFFER A FULL-TIME JOB TO IT.

AND THEN HE WAS ABLE, WE WERE ABLE TO GET KEN TO COME BACK IN 1993, UM, CAN ACTUALLY, UH, IT WAS ONE OF THE REASONS, AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE'RE TRYING TO PROMOTE WITHIN THE FIRE DIVISION.

KEN'S ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I CAME TO HUBER HEIGHTS AS A YOUNG FIREFIGHTER WAS KEN WAS ONE OF OUR LAB INSTRUCTORS IN PARAMEDIC SCHOOL BACK IN 90 1992, 93, AND LAW THAT YOU PROVIDE SKIES WERE OUT THERE TEACHING.

AND, YOU KNOW, I THINK TODAY, LIKE WITH, UH, WITH BATTALION CHIEF RUSSELL, CHIEF MALL OR THE WHOLE GROUP THAT WE'RE PROMOTING TONIGHT, THEY'VE ALL TAUGHT PEOPLE IN OUR AREA IN FIREFIGHTING OR PARAMEDICINE.

AND I BELIEVE THAT'S ONE OF THE, ONE OF THE BIG DRAWS THAT WE HAVE WITH OUR COMMUNITY IS THE EFFORTS THAT, UH, ALL THESE, UH, ALL THESE PEOPLE GETTING PROMOTED AND I'VE PUT FORWARD.

UH, KEN WAS PROMOTED, UH, IN 2010 UNTIL THE TENANT.

AND THEN, UH, HE BECAME A BATTALION CHIEF ON MARCH 7TH, UH, 2021.

ONE OF THE THINGS I DIDN'T TALK ABOUT EARLIER WAS THE BATTALION CHIEFS.

WE DID SOMETHING UNIQUE WITH THE BATTALION CHIEFS PROCESS THIS YEAR IS WE ACTUALLY KIND OF DID SOME BOOK REPORTING AND, UH, TRYING TO BUILD A CULTURE OF EXTREME OWNERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO DO ESSENTIALLY, WHAT WAS IT, AN HOUR LONG PRESENTATION ON EXTREME OWNERSHIP? WHAT EXTREME OWNERSHIP CAN DO FOR THE FIRE DIVISION AND THEN KIND OF PRESENT WHAT THEIR VISION OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS.

SO WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO BUILD ON THAT.

UH, KEVIN, JOHN, OBVIOUSLY, WE'RE THE, WE'RE THE, WE'RE THE TOP TWO SCORES, UH, ALL THE, UH, ALL THE ASSESSMENTS WE BROUGHT IN FROM THE AREA.

WE'RE VERY IMPRESSED WITH OUR CANDIDATES.

UH, EVEN, EVEN THE GUY IN ANY OF OUR PROCESSES THAT SCORE THE LOWEST LINE OF FIRE APARTMENTS STILL LOOK VERY HIGHLY OF ANYBODY THAT'S FROM OUR, UH, FROM THE GUY THAT SCORED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST OF THE TOP OF THE LIST.

WE HAVE NOTHING BUT GOOD PEOPLE.

SO WE HAVE A LOT OF, A LOT OF TOUGH DECISIONS, BUT ALL GOOD THINGS TO DEAL WITH.

SO WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND LET A KATZ, WHY SHELDON HAD PINNED THE BADGE ON KEN HAS SEVERAL CHILDREN, BUT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE, I THINK THEY'RE ALL EVERYONE'S DOING AN ACTIVITY TONIGHT.

EVERYBODY'S PRIOR DEPARTMENT HAS ALLOWED ME TO ACHIEVE A LOT OF THINGS THROUGH MY OWN NETWORK.

IT'S AFFORDED ME A CAREER.

I'M EXCITED TO FINISH MY TIME OUT HERE.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

BRANDON WEDNESDAY AWARD FOR BRINGING THE LARGEST ENTOURAGE TONIGHT.

HOPEFULLY YOUR DAUGHTER WON'T KICK A SHOE OFF AT THE STATE AUDIT LIKE MINE.

OKAY.

LOOKING AT GOOD NIGHTS.

YEAH.

UM, THIS IS, THIS IS BRANDON THAT BRANDON, WHILE HE DIDN'T GRADUATE FROM WAYNE HIGH SCHOOL, BRANDON IS A RESIDENT OF HOW MANY YEARS NOW HERE, NINE YEARS, HE HAS SOME, BRANDON'S LIVED IN HUBER HEIGHTS FOR NINE YEARS.

UH, BRANDON HAS WORKED, WORKED FOR US FOR ALMOST NINE YEARS.

UH, BRANDON'S GOT QUITE THE, QUITE THE, UH, A BIT OF EXPERIENCE.

HE WORKED IN MARYLAND.

UH, I BELIEVE WORKED IN TROY.

I WORKED IN BUTLER TOWNSHIP AND THEN WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HIRE BRANDON.

BRANDON IS ACTIVELY TEACHING AT, UH, AT SINCLAIR.

UH, YOU STILL TEACH AT ST.

CLARE'S ARE IN FIREFIGHTING, FIREFIGHTING TRAINING.

BRANDON'S INVOLVED WITH OUR SPECIAL OPERATIONS PROGRAM.

BRANDON'S ALSO A MEMBER OF, UH, THE FEMA TASK FORCE, TASK FORCE ONE.

I BELIEVE HIS FAMILY HAD TO LIVE WITHOUT HIM FOR A LITTLE BIT WHEN HE WENT TO A COUPLE OF THE HURRICANES, RIGHT? YES.

AND SO

[00:15:01]

BRANDON'S VERY ACTIVE.

AND LIKE I SAID, ONCE AGAIN, WE'RE, WE'RE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE BRANDON AND BE ABLE TO OFFER BRANDON THIS PROMOTION TONIGHT.

UH, BRANDON STARTED WITH US IN 2012 AND WAS PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT IN 2021.

UH, TONIGHT WE HAVE BECKY NEVILLE UNTIL HE AND HIS MOM AND DAD BALDWIN, CINDY.

AND WE HAVE SORRY, HUNTER AND JACOB, HIS BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAW, UH, NEPHEWS, JARED TAYLOR.

JACOB, JARED AND TAYLOR.

YEAH.

HUNTER AND JACOB WERE NOT HERE.

YES.

CORRECT.

ALL RIGHT.

SO, UM, WE'LL GO AHEAD AND YOU WANT TO HAND THIS TO YOUR MOM EXERCISES? READY TO CONTINUE ON WHAT THE OTHERS HAVE DONE PROMOTED UP.

SO THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT.

WELL FINALLY, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WE HAVE MIKE WALL.

UH, WE TOUCHED ON THE BATTALION CHIEFS.

THE LIEUTENANTS COULD BE PROMOTED IN THE FIRE DIVISION.

UM, ONE, YOU HAVE TO HAVE FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE MINIMUM AT HUBER HEIGHTS.

SO YOU HAVE TO BE A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE WITH CU BREADS FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS.

UH, WE GO THROUGH A, WHAT IS IT? MAYBE OUR, UH, FIRE OFFICER ONE NSPA, UH, UH, 1021 FIRE OFFICER CLASS.

SO, UM, THERE'S THAT? AND THEN WHAT IS IT? THREE, WAS IT THREE MONTHS, THREE AND A HALF MONTHS OF STUDY.

SO THEY HAVE ON THE LIST OF BOOKS TO READ AND STUDY, AND THEN THEY SCORE ON THAT.

THAT'S WORTH 50% OF THE GRADE.

AND THEN THEY PARTICIPATE IN AN ASSESSMENT CENTER HERE TO RUN THE CANDIDATES THROUGH, UM, ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT SCENARIOS.

SO THAT WAS THE PROCESS THAT, UH, BRANDON AND MIKE BOTH DID.

AND, UH, THEY CAME OUT NUMBER ONE AND TWO.

UM, AND SO MIKE HAS BEEN WITH US NOW FOR JUST WHAT, OVER 15 YEARS, JUST ABOUT 15 YEARS HERE IN A WEEK OR TWO, UH, HE CAME TO US AND HE CAME WEST CAROL, WHERE ELSE? WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP.

SO MIKE HAD A LOT OF EXPERIENCE IN THAT WHEN WE GOT, WHEN WE GOT MIKE, MIKE ALSO IS A MEMBER OF THE FEMA TASK FORCE, AND YOU'VE BEEN DEPLOYED A COUPLE OF TIMES TWICE.

AND, UH, SO SHE'S GOT A REGINA AND COLTON HERE WITH HIM AND COLTON SPORTING, A BRAND NEW DEVICE FROM VACATION.

AND THE LAST DAY OF VACATION, I WILL GO AHEAD, HOLD ON.

I'M GOING TO HAND THIS TO YOU.

I KNOW MIKE WELL ENOUGH.

HE PROBABLY HAD ABOUT GENE TO PRACTICE THIS.

I KIND OF SLIDE LIKE THERE'S A LOT OF TEACHING AND THEN A LOT OF EXPOSURE AROUND THE AREA.

AND LIKE I SAID, ALL FOUR PEOPLE THAT WE'VE, UH, UH, WE PROMOTED THIS EVENING OR, UH, HAVE, UH, REALLY SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE CITY WHO PROVIDE PROVIDES, UH, EVERY TIME SOMEBODY APPLIES.

ONE OF THEIR NAMES IS USUALLY ON AN APPLICATION THAT SOMEBODY THAT HAS KNOWS ONE OF THEM, OR IS FRIENDS WITH SOMEBODY AND THEY WANT TO COME HERE BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE.

.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
