WE WANT TO SUPPORT LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS. AND SO WE'VE DONE THAT.
THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT FIRST YEAR. WE HAD 29 APPLICANTS.
THIS FIRST YEAR IT WAS WONDERFUL. AND SO WE'VE ALLOCATED IN THIS PAST YEAR $125,000.
AND WE PLAN TO INCREASE THAT IN 2026. WE HAD SUCH A TURNOUT.
WE HAD 29 APPLICANTS IN 2025. IT WAS FANTASTIC.
LET'S SEE IF WE CAN MAKE IT TREMENDOUS AND GET EVEN MORE THAN THAT.
AND SO WE'RE GOING TO INCREASE THE ALLOCATION IN 2026.
SO WHERE DO THESE FUNDS COME FROM. SO THESE FUNDS COME FROM THE TED FUND.
WELL WHAT IS THE TED. IT'S THE TRANSFORMATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUND.
WELL WHERE DO THOSE FUNDS COME FROM. WELL, THOSE FUNDS COME FROM CITY OWNED PROPERTY AND LEASE REVENUE GENERATED THROUGH CITY OWNED PROPERTY. THEY DO NOT COME FROM INCOME TAX. AND THAT'S AN IMPORTANT POINT.
WE HAD FOUR BUCKETS THIS YEAR. WE HAD A $50,000 MATCHING GRANT.
AND THE WAY YOU GOT A MATCHING GRANT IS YOU WERE AWARDED A STATE OR A LOCAL GRANT, LIKE AN EDGE GRANT, WHICH IS GIVEN FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY. OKAY. AND THEN WE HAD THREE $25,000 BUCKETS, SMALL BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT, WHICH IN 2026. THE HOPE IS, IS THAT WE CAN BREAK IT OUT.
AND EACH WOULD HAVE A $25,000 GRANT. BUT FOR THIS FIRST YEAR, WE COMBINED THE TWO.
AND THEN WE HAD $25,000 FOR VETERAN OWNED BUSINESSES AND THEN $25,000 FOR VETERAN OWNED BUSINESSES.

SO WHEREAS THE CITY OF HUBER HEIGHTS UNDERTOOK SIGNIFICANT CONSIDERATION AND INVESTMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE RICHARD F SHAUN CITY GOVERNANCE CENTER THAT YOU'RE IN NOW, IT'S A MODERN MUNICIPAL FACILITY DESIGNED TO CONSOLIDATE CITY OPERATIONS, ENHANCE PUBLIC ACCESS, IMPROVE EFFICIENCY, AND SERVE AS A LONG TERM CIVIC ANCHOR FOR THE COMMUNITY.
AND WHEREAS, THE CITY GOVERNANCE CENTER, LOCATED AT 6151 BRANDT PIKE WITHIN THE REDEVELOPED MARION MEADOWS SITE, REPRESENTS AN APPROXIMATELY $11 MILLION PUBLIC INVESTMENT AND NOW HOUSES THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS AND CITY PERSONNEL IN KEY ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS AND DIVISIONS.
AND WHEREAS THE PROJECT PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE IN THE BROADER REVITALIZATION OF THE BRANDT PIKE CORRIDOR, SUPPORTING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY, AND LONG TERM FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND IMPROVING OPERATIONAL COORDINATION.
