EVENTUALLY WE WOULD HAVE A WONDERFUL STATE WHERE EVERYBODY IS FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDICS. HUBER HEIGHTS WAS ONE OF FOUR FULL-TIME FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN THE REGION. NOW MANY, MANY OTHER FIRE DEPARTMENTS HAVE FIVE FULL-TIME PEOPLE TO 40, 50, 60. AND MARKET, SUPPLY AND DEMAND -- A WHILE BACK, WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ENCOURAGED TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX AND WORKING WITH PRESIDENT OF THE FIREFIGHTERS UNION, THE PREVIOUS PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT TEMPLE. WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON TRTO FIND ALTERNATE SOLUTIONS. ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE DID WAS START HIRING PEOPLE FOR RECRUIT POSITIONS. WE FOUND THAT WE WERE A LITTLE LATE TO THE PARTY. FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC RECRUITS, WE HEARD THE BEST AVAILABLE . WE REALIZED WE NEEDED TO CAPTURE SOME OF THE STUDENTS BEFORE THEY GOT INTO PARAMEDIC CLASS.BECAUSE ONCE THEY ARE IN CLASS, EVERY JOB. THEY GO TOTHE STAFF WILL TELL US ALL THE KIDS IN THIS CLASS ALREADY HAVE FULL-TIME JOBS. THAT KIND OF OPENED THE DOOR TO WHERE WE WANTED TO START HIRING FIREFIGHTER EMTS. LOOKING AT THE BUDGET AND TALKING WITH JOHN AND WORKING WITH THE UNION, WE REALIZED THERE WOULD BE A LITTLE BIT OF SAVINGS THROUGH THE TRAINING PERIODS BECAUSE WE ARE NOT PAYING THE PREMIUM FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC. WHAT WE DECIDED TO DO WAS TAKE SOME OF THAT COST OF SAVINGS AND OPEN UP AN OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL TO BECOME FIREFIGHTERS. THE THIRST OF KNOWLEDGDESIRE TO MOVE UP BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK OUT SO WELL BECAUSE -- THEY BECAME FIREFIGHTER EMTS. WE FOUND THAT WE ADVERTISE TO HIRE THREE FIREFIGHTERS. THAT IS ALREADY WORKING BECAUSE MR. WEBB IS ALREADY AN EMT SCHOOL. I AM SURE WE HAVE MORE PEOPLE THAT WE WILL HAVE MORE PEOPLE GETTING INTO PARAMEDICS SCHOOL. SO FAR, WE ARE HIRING GREAT PEOPLE. IT IS NICE NOW WE CAN FOCUS A LOT MORE ON CHARACTER, A LOT MORE ON BEING ABLE TO GET ALONG AND WORK ETHIC AND THINGS LIKE THAT THEN OTHER THINGS. THESE GUYS HAVE BUSTED THEIR BUTTS THE LAST THREE WEEKS. THEY ARE GOING TO FINISH UP THIS WEEK. THEY ARE LEARNING THE FIRE PUMP THIS WEEK. NEXT WEEK THEY WILL BE OUT SERVING. ARE DELI STAFFING AVERAGE WILL BE 17 PER DAY. WE WILL HAVE 18, WHICH WILL ALLOW PLENTY OF EXTRA PEOPLE TO WHERE SOMEBODY CALLS OUT SICK, THEY CANNOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BURDENING PEOPLE AT HOME OR OVERTIME.
